William Baptiste Baird was born in 1847 in Chicago, Illinois, USA
He was a painter of landscapes, rural subjects and animals and lived in Paris and studied under Adolphe Yvan.
From 1872 to 1899 he exhibited at the Paris Salon and in 1881 at the Salon of French Artists. He also exhibited at the National Academy of Design from 1875 until 1879 and the Pennsylvanis Academy of the Fine Arts in 1878, 1882 and 1883.
He travelled widely throughout France and Switzerland and he painted many scenes with chickens and rabbits.
His works have been auctioned throughout Europe, the UK and the USA
