Euphemie Muraton

French, 1840 -1914

Born in 1840 at Beaugency (Loiret) in France with the maiden name Duhanot she was a highly accomplished painter of genre, animals and still lifes.

She married the highly regarded painter Alphonse Muraton. debuted at The Paris Salon in 1868 where, in 1880, her work earned her a third class medal. She became a member of The Society of French Artists from 1888, and received a bronze medal at ‘L’Exposition Universelle’ in 1889.

Her work is represented in a number of French museums, including the Museum of Rouen, Le Havre, Mulhouse and Dieppe.
