Louise Lavrut

French 20th Century

Lavrut was born on the 28th February 1874 in Limours.

She was a renowned painter and pastellist who primarily drew genre scenes.

Louise Lavrut studied under Jules Lefebvre and Tony Robert-Fleury. She featured at the Salon des Artistes Francais of which she became an associate member in 1901.

She received an honourable mention in 1898. She was awarded the Prix Maria Bashkirtseff in 1901 and the Prix Henner in 1924.

In 1925 she received France’s highest award the Legion d’Honneur.

The museum of Dieppe holds a portrait of a woman by her.
