Paul Claude Jance

1840-1915

Paul Jance was born at Lyon in 1840.

From 1855 to 1861, Jance studied at the Beaux Arts Academy of Lyon under the painter Gleyre.

Jance was above all a painter of flowers but he also painted portraits, genre scenes and still lifes.

From 1863 he exhibited at the Paris Salon, from 1879 at the Lyon Salon, from 1880 at the Dijon Salon and from 1882 at the Saint-Etienne Salon.

He was awarded an honourable mention in 1884 for his portrait miniatures.
