Claude Hayes

1852 – 1922

He was a landscape and portrait painter. Born in Dublin.

Son of Edwin Hayes. Ran away to sea where he spent a year in America.
He came back to study at Heatherleys, the Royal Academy and under Verlat in Antwerp.

He was made a full member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 1886, a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1883 and a full member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours from 1902 – 1907.
