Adrianus Johannes Groenewegen

Rotterdam 1874-1963 Horn

Adrianus Groenewegen is considered one of the late representatives of The Hague School. In 1898, aged 24, he left his native city of Rotterdam for The Hague , where he quickly developed a taste for painting quintessential Dutch landscapes with cattle under wide open skies.

He was a pupil at the Rotterdam Academy and worked in Rotterdam, The Hague and Budel.

The works are atmospheric impressions in which colour and forms merge with that typical Dutch light. A large number of his works are to be found with English, Canadian and American collectors.

He exhibited between 1901 and 1910 in Amsterdam, Arnhem, The Hague, Leeuwarden and Rotterdam.
