Incised reverse

Width: 4"

Category: Traditional frames

Type: Twentieth Century , Reverse

Based on the Italian Cassetta frame meaning “little box” it was one of Italy’s favourite frames of the 16th and 17th Century. This section is extended down each side and across the top and bottom to form a simple box with a raised sight and back edge. This design illustrates gold leaf painted on a sgraffito design and then highly burnished.
