Eugene Lawrence Vail

Biography of Artist

Born 29th September 1857 at Saint-Servan died 1934 in France.
He was an American.
Painter of Genre, Landscapes and Marines.
His Father was American and his Mother was French which was not considered normal in those days to have a mixed cultural family.
At eleven he was in the studies league of Art in New York and then in 1882 he continued his artistic studies in Paris at I’Ecole des Beaux-Arts with in the ateliers d’Alexandre Cabanel beside Raphael Collin and Dagnan-Bouveret.
Then in 1883 he participated at the Salon des Artists Francis and was awarded a medal for the third class.
1889 was awarded a medal at I’ Exposition Univeselle. In 1894 he also received medals for his work from, la Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts; des Tuileries; he also did exhibitions in the following places, Berlin, Munich, Anvers, Liege, Vienna, Budapest, Saint Louis, Chicago and Pittsburgh.
