French painter born in 1818 and died on 27th October 1885.
Painter of landscapes, coastal scenes and woodcutter.
He became a pupil of Leon Cogniet and Camille Flers at the Beaux-Arts in Paris.
He exhibited for the first time at the Paris Salon in 1855 and wond a 2nd class medal in 1873 an a 3rd class at the L’Exposition Universelle.
He became a knight of the Legion d’honneur in 1874.
He started as a woodcutter in 1848.
His works have been auctioned in both Paris and New York and his paintings command very high prices.
