Peter RAADSIG

1806-1882

He was born on 18th October in Copenhagen and died there on July 1st .

Raadsig was a painter of genre and figure scenes and landscapes who studied under Kunstakademi in Copenhagen. He is especially known for his depiction of coastal scenes and notably fisherfolk.

Although he spent most of his career immersed in the artistic life of Denmark he also spent some time in Rome and Munich.

His work is represented in the Aarhus with a piece entitled “Jens H. Ulfstand and the Abbot of Bekkeskov, in the National Museum of Copenhagen with 6 paintings and in Skagen with a piece called “In the Dunes of Old Skagen”.
