Loys Prat

Biography of Artist

Born 1879

He was born at Donzere in France on the 5th of August. He started his formal education at the Paris school of Fine Art under Fernand Cormon. He obtained a second place at the “Prix de Rome”. His painting interests drew him increasingly to Paris where he started to make his mark. Then in 1905 he showed his first picture at the Salon, and in the following year he got an honourable mention in the “Prix Maguelonne. This was followed by other medals and recognitions in 1907 and 1911.

Prat is most known for his wall paintings, murals and portrait work. It is noted that he was well known for his spontaneity, with some of his artistic expression being conveyed perfectly by using just a skillful rough outline.

Among his many exhibits we find him represented in museums these are:- Dijon, Grenoble and Liverpool.
