Auguste Pinchart

Biography of Artist

August Emile PINCHART

French School

Pinchart was born on the 10th August 1842 in Cambrai and died in 1924.

He was a painter of portraits and genre scenes and followed the trend of an idealised vision of rural life. His light and natural palette reflects a sentiment of delightful charm.

Pinchart was a student of Gerome. He lived intermittently in Geneva and held workshops there on posters and reproductions, under the name of Atelier Pinchart.

He exhibited at the Salon de Paris, obtaining an honourable mention in 1883 and a third-class medal in 1884.

He was a member of the Societe des Artistes Francais from 1905.

His works can be found in Fecamp Museum.
