Maurice MOISSET

1860 - 1946

Maurice Moisset was a French marine and landscape painter. Maurice Moisset was a pupil of Jules Lefebvre and Emile Dameron.

He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais in Paris and became a member from 1888. He received an honourable mention in 1894, a third-class medal in 1901 and a second-class medal in 1907. He was later made a Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur

In 1924 he was appointed Peintre Officiel de la Marine (POM), which is the official designation of a marine painter of the French Navy with the rank of a naval officer.

From 1942-46 he was the president of Foundation Taylor, a French association of painters, architects and other artists.
