Edward KING

British 19th/20th Century

King was born in 1863 in London and went on to settle in Petersfield, Hampshire.

He studied under Bourguereau and Robert Fleury in Paris and was a frequent visitor to the French painting scene exhibiting in the Salon des Artistes Francais.

He painted a variety of different subject matter but seemed to be most at home with landscapes and sometimes figurative work- typical titles being “A Mediterranean Harbour” and “Cows Watering at Dusk”.

King exhibited 13 paintings in the Royal Academy and also at the Grosvenor Gallery, his work is also held in many private collections and comes up for auction across the world.
