William Hounsom-Byles
Biography of Artist
1872 – 1925
For most of his life William Hounsom Byles lived in London, exhibiting some eight paintings at the Royal Academy between 1894 and 1916. Although chiefly a sporting painter and illustrator, Byles was also a landscape, portrait and figurative artist
He was made a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1901.
His paintings were also exhibited in the following galleries:

He enlisted in The Artists Rifles and was promoted Sergeant in time. He was commissioned into the Royal Army Service Corps on 26th October 1916.
His later years were passed in Chichester.
