Albert Ferdinand Duprat

Biography of Artist

Born 1882

He was born in Venice, Italy and studied at the School of Fine Art there. He specialised in painting urban landscapes and water scenes in a post-impressionist style. Throughout his career he found an abundance of subject matter in his native Venice and a lot of his painting finds its inspiration from the waterways of this great city.

Duprat also turned to Paris for inspiration, and painted many pictures along the banks of the Seine. His style was very pioneering and his use of textured paint to convey ripples on the water quite unique.

He features regularly in auctions and his work is represented in museums at Aix-en Provence, Brest and Laval
