Biography of Artist

1911-1979
This Polish artist was centred in Warsaw- a city he constantly used as a backdrop in his paintings. He painted a wide range of material: hay wagons, horse scenes, genre scenes and portraits- but he is best known for his depiction snow scenes. His use of oils was typical of the time and used quite broad brushstrokes, but they also contained precise detail. Chmielinski produced a large body of work through his career, which frequently comes up in auction and is held in many collections.
